Our first roof box adventure..

Home is situated in a sleepy Kentish village, nestled amidst lush greenery and rolling hills. Our love is spending time as a family on weekend getaways and two- or three-week extended holidays both at home and abroad, in search of new experiences and adventures.

Our passion for travelling to new places expanded along with our ever growing collection of "essential" outdoor equipment, camping gear, bikes and kayaks. This is when our friendly neighbour observed our situation and offered us his shiny state of the art roof box to try, we were introduced to the advantages of the Thule Motion XT - a stylish and roomy answer to all of our storage and transportation problems.

Fortunately, our neighbour's roof box, which was an XL, looked to be the ideal size for our XC90 and could hold all of our luggage stuff and much more... We quickly understood that the Thule Motion XT roof box was going to be the best option for us going forward because of its large capacity. With its easy to install, claw style bar fittings we were confident it was installed securely, and this gave us comfort in knowing that everything was safe and out of the weather.

As we set out on this first trip with a roof box, we were amazed at just how easily the roof box integrated into your journey. Loading the box was a breeze, which in part was thanks to the box's dual-side opening and intuitive locking system. Within minutes, our Volvo SUV was packed ready to go and for the very first time we could stretch our legs in a car free of random items. Well all aside from my young child's toys and necessities. Even our dog had plenty of room for himself in the boot. My husband is also absolutely thrilled to find that there is space for his bike at the side of the box!

As can be imagined, the Motion XT immediately demonstrated its value and versatility to us, and since it was the ideal fit for our requirements, we returned from our trip and purchased the newer Motion 3 model in the exact same size from roofracks.co.uk who by chance are fairly close to us. We ordered online and picked it up the same day, together with a new set of Thule wing bars. They fitted everything onto the roof for us while we waited and provided clear, detailed information so we could confidently remove & reinstall it ourselves when we got home. I’m sure we will enjoy using our motion 3 roof box for many exciting adventures in the years to come..
